The Annual McCrearyFest talent show, held at McCreary Central High
School during McCrearyFest week, is a much beloved additive to the McCrearyFest celebrations that’s proven to showcase the extraordinary talent of McCreary County and surrounding areas. Audiences are treated to everything from the traditional regional sounds of bluegrass, blues, country, and jazz, to the more traditional and widely recognized sounds of Bach, Beethoven, and everyone in between. Customarily, the event sees local composers showcase their own work in a variety of forms, but doesn’t close its doors to the many varieties of dance, and has welcomed cloggers, ballet, interpretive, acrobatics, tap, and an assortment of group interpretations take the stage. In other words, if you’ve a got talent, it’s welcome on our stage for a rip-roaring, knee-slapping, toe-tapping, good time, McCrearyFest style.
From time to time, our hosts are as colourful as our talent. The event has been emceed by such notables as local radio personality Adam Phillips, model and former-Miss Teen Kentucky Shelley Gilreath, to columnist and funny man Peter Ferrara, and John Alexander, the star of “The Johnny Alexander Show” and the motion picture “Seabiscuit.”
