The McCrearyFest Street Concert

The McCrearyFest Street Concert was the brainchild of members of the 2006 McCrearyFest Board of Directors, and was a 2007 addition to McCrearyFest festivities. Even in its infancy, it has established itself as one of the most popular and widely attended events in recent festival history. The Friday night concert was billed as “the hottest thing ever to happen to ‘The Fest,’” and quickly lived up to the hype when hundreds gathered on main street in downtown Whitley City for the inaugural show, headlined by Chrissy Foster, Stone 11, and Worth Dying For, with a special encore performance by Zachary Shoopman, the winner of the 2007 McCrearyFest Talent Show.

Like with other McCrearyFest events, a section of main street was closed for your safety and the event is patrolled by police and community watch organizations.

The Street Concert is set for Friday nights.

"The Hottest Thing to Happen to 'The Fest'"

Though now living in Lexington, Kentucky, angelic voiced Chrissy Foster is a native of McCreary County with a sustained and dedicated local following. Pulling influences from many artists and genres of music, her captivating voice and singing style has been described as being “beautiful” and “breathtaking.” She regularly performs shows across Kentucky and Ohio. Look for her at the 2007 McCreary Fest Street Concert.

Southern Rock is the forte of Stone 11, whose front man, Darrell Newton, is a McCreary County native based out of Nashville, Tennessee. As an artist, Darrell has opened the Better Life Foundation annual dinner auction in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he had the opportunity to perform "Southern Bands" for hundreds of screaming fans and the heroes of the song as well -- Lynyrd Skynyrd. Stone 11 has left their distinct mark on festivals and venues all across the South, and have garnered quite a regional following. Although playing together as Stone 11 is a recent development, most of the members have been playing music for the better part of their adult lives. They will play the 2007 McCreary Fest Street Concert.

Worth Dying For is a Christian band that has more to offer than just driving music. Apart from their use of a wide range of dynamic sound, they provide a message that speaks to the hearts of listeners, young and old alike. Although many other bands may have the goal of developing a crowd mesmerizing sound, WDF's primary goal is to spread the message of love and hope through Jesus Christ. Assembled from all different types of backgrounds and hardships, WDF intimately knows adversity and has learned to focus on Jesus Christ for strength to overcome whatever may come into their path. Hear them at the 2007 McCrearyFest Street Concert.
